In recent years there’s been great progress in reducing emissions of NOx, particulates, and CO2 by transportation in all its forms. Driven by a need to both improve urban air quality and mitigate climate change, emissions have never had a higher profile on the political agenda of most countries.
However, there is a pressing need for more urgent improvements. Some of these will result from switches in modes of transportation, for example by moving goods haulage from road to rail. Some will result from local and national policies, although these might not always be fully joined-up or have the intended impact.
In all instances new technologies will have a key role to play throughout the associated energy chain, from its production and supply through to its more efficient use on the road, rail, and sea and in the air. This is driving unprecedented investment from OEMs in potential pathways to lower emissions across these sectors. How can your new technology gain their attention and what should be your next steps?
